“There were things that were unexpected....”

General Impression

Overall Rating:    9 / 10

I enjoyed my time in Argentina. I think it was valuable for my Spanish skills and to see a different side of healthcare. There was plenty to do, and while the food isn't what I expected, there was always something to eat.

Country

I liked Argentina. There were things that were unexpected, but I did not encounter anything that I couldn't deal with. Learning Spanish there may not be the best option for everyone, but it can be done.

Project & Staff

I think a different project would have been more valuable. Shadowing is fine, but volunteering somewhere would have been a more valuable use of my time. Dr. Mastropierro was excellent though.

Tips

$50 a week was recommended. It is enough, perhaps, to eat and get around. It will not cover extra activities or souvenirs. You may as well bring more cash to change rather than deal with ATM fees, though they aren't too bad.
Get a SIM card if you plan to stay awhile. Having data to call an Uber is far easier than searching for WiFi.
