“I can't wait to go back”

General Impression

Overall Rating:    10 / 10

It was a rewarding project! Really enjoyed working with the staff, the horses and the children.

Country

Ecuador is beautiful, and so is Quito. I can't wait to go back and visit more of this country.

Project & Staff

The staff at the project don't speak much Spanish, so it was very challenging to communicate with them, but that forced me to learn and practice Spanish. But the staff are very friendly, helpful. I really enjoyed working with them!

Tips

- The typical apartment for volunteers are shared rooms (with one other roommate) in a 4-bedroom apartment. I stayed with a host family, and had my own room and bathroom, but the apartment was fairly old, so expect not-so-great showers, plumbing, etc.
- Quito is mostly safe, but at night, take a taxi! I have heard about robbery incidents, especially for women volunteers.
- You will ride the horses bareback! So be prepared.
