“Teaching English”

General Impression

Overall Rating:    8 / 10

A wonderful experience. I highly recommend this project.

Country

Moldova is a very sweet place. The geography, the people, the history. It was interesting to hear locals describe conditions there, political and economic. Western media presents a more anxious view. A small country on the edge of Europe dealing with keeping their brightest employed at home, to develop Moldova. This project is a great example of someone developing a high standard service that adds huge value to their community.

Project & Staff

This project is excellent. I can't rate the two teachers more highly. And their skill and dedication shows in the students. Language is the core business but for the younger students, there is also a lot of personal development. Svetlana Olga and Vladimir are champions. They provided as much support as I wanted or needed, in the school and outside. I felt there was no limit to their determination to make sure I had a fulfilling experience and developed my teaching skills.

Tips

The school is very well equipped. Giving anyone opportunities to use a wide range of technology to boost the learning experience. Moldova is not a place to start a diet. These people love food and the food is very good. So is the wine.
Causeni is a busy market town but it's not big. Think about opportunities to spend weekends away. Chisinau, the capital, is a fabulous little city - and only 60 mins away by regular and cheap bus. I rented a car in Chisinau and found the Moldovan drivers, their roads and road navigation to be more than reasonable.
Take a phone and a tablet. Get a local data chip for the tablet (very cheap) and roam with your phone only when necessary.
