General Impression
Overall Rating:
/ 10Love Volunteers is a wonderfully accessible organization. Information was easy and clear, staff was reachable via both email and phone when I needed clarity or reassurance, and their trip planner dashboard guided our process very well. In the country of India, we never felt disconnected or uncertain of our day to day mission and place. The only reason I give the “general impression” an 8/10 was due to the fact that the program we chose was called “street children”, but the children were not living and making a living on the streets in Delhi. The program title is misleading. These children are in families, in a beautiful, albeit poor, community. We helped what seemed to be more of a day care in the slum. Still we made loving connections and hopefully brought some meaningful growth in our time there. I was hoping to sit among kids who will never know education or adequate housing. The 30+ kids we met each day were safe and loved and exposed to some education.Country
We loved Delhi! It is loud 24/7, polluted, crowded, smelly, and hot. But we loved every moment traveling among the Indian people. The women are stunningly beautiful, and the people are kind and gentle. We saw many historical sights and markets in Delhi, and we traveled to Agra to see the Taj Mahal on one weekend, via train. Each day was full of discovery! We always felt safe and welcome.
Project & Staff
Excellent. Love Volunteer administrative staff was dependable and helpful. Sankar in Delhi was dependable and steadfast. The hostel was an excellent accommodation, comfortable and an easy launching off spot for the city. We loved the two teachers with whom we worked (Khushboo Love was the woman).
