General Impression
Overall Rating:
/ 10It was a wonderfully enriching and empowering experience! I thoroughly enjoyed working with the medical team. I learned new skills and gained knowledge from seasoned and new nurses, and I grew more confident in my ability to help the people of Oaxaca daily. My favorite part of the trip was connecting with patients and empowering them to use their skills and abilities to take charge of their health.Country
Oaxaca, Mexico, is a gorgeous, vibrant, and culturally rich state. The city is a gem with a unique appreciation for culture, art, and traditional expression. The food, Chocolate, Mezcal, Art, and cultures are amazing, but it's the warmth of the people that truly lights up the city!
Project & Staff
I am grateful for the coordination of the team. None of my experiences would have been possible without the facilitation of Alma and Dra. Conseco! Thank you, Love Volunteers, and Hospital Aurelio Valdivieso's Wound and Ostomy team. Thank you, Edgar, Luz, and Jesus at Medica Rojas. Your kindness and support have inspired me to continue serving others and reaching for the stars!
Tips
Enjoy every moment, every bite, every sight, and every conversation, as it is an opportunity for growth and connection. Traveling alone and to a new country has minor challenges, but nothing we can't overcome with hope and perseverance. This trip was a massive step for me. I've always loved travel and new experiences, but I'd never gone on it alone. After this trip, I have a newfound resilience, confidence, and ability to navigate inconvenience, which will ultimately help me become a better human being and nurse.
