“Education Support”

General Impression

Overall Rating:    10 / 10

This was absolutely one of the best moments I've ever had in my life. Working as an English teacher in Cambodia is no doubt a lifetime experience.

I enjoyed teaching and I also enjoyed learning through teaching, I've realized that the best way to learn and gain experience is by teaching.

I taught kindergarten and I've seen how eager they are to learn more and more but, the most beautiful thing is that when I see the improvement in my students and knowing that I was somehow the reason for them to improve in writing, speaking and reading, all this in itself is no doubt a great achievement. you will never know the beautiful feeling of this experience unless you go through the experience itself.

The relationship between my students and I has been grown too fast, we've become friends and though it was a bit difficult for me to remember the names of each student but by the time I started to remember and memorize.

Besides teaching, I've also learned important things in order to become a teacher such as' prepare a lesson plan, class management and most important is how to be patient and be able to interact and understand your students.

Country

Cambodia is beautiful, peaceful and a wonderful country and I would advise everyone to visit this amazing part of the world. at first before coming here I've tried to picture the country in my mind but, what you can imagine is absolutely different than what you see in reality, what attracted me mostly are the people and the smiley faces they have got which gives me comfort.

I have seen the beautiful culture they have in this country which teaches you how to behave in a good manner and also how to respect the others and, I can see the influence of this beautiful culture reflected on my students.

I had the opportunity to celebrate the Khmer New Year. It is the name of the Cambodian holiday that celebrates the traditional lunar new year and it lasts for three days only which starts on 14th and it ends on 16th of April.
They have a specific celebration for this occasion and it is really amazing, I have enjoyed every single moment of the Khmer New Year.

Project & Staff

I liked the project or the program I've joined. everything went so well to me and of course I appreciate the staff at my workplace, they were very helpful and always there if I needed help.

I've been interacting with students, teachers and the other staff and they were all amazing people that I am proud to work with and I will always want to come back.

Tips

My advise to anyone who like to volunteer is not to give yourself a room to hesitate. But there are important things you should know before you decide.

it is well known to every volunteer that you will see a different environment and a different culture which could be completely different than your culture, therefore you will have to adapt yourself to the new situation.

Something else, for example: if you work as a teacher or working in an orphanage, you may encounter unexpected things but, as a volunteer you will have to be prepared to deal with such situation and you will always find the staff surrounding you and they will never hesitate to help and support you.
