I had a great experience! We learned a lot, the city was safe to take taxis in, walk around in, and go exploring when we had the time. I did have my debit cards stolen immediately upon landing in Oaxaca, and Whatsapp does not work without service. It took a while to get in contact once at the airport. Otherwise, host family was wonderful, amazing food, awesome experience!Country
Colorful cities, happy people! Everyone was very friendly and always willing to help. Food is not processed, it's very clean and did not cause a lot of bloating and inflammation! Food was so delicious=-)
Project & Staff
Staff members were great, there was only one staff member that could speak any english, so we spent a lot of time with her so that she could help translate what she was doing for us!
Tips
If you have mobile data in Mexico/Cananda or global, restart your phone when you land so that you have service and can receive messages and get to where you need to go! Keep your personal items on you all the time, and we used DiD in the city as well. It's like Mexican Uber. The rates are fixed, whereas the taxi rates might change and be more expensive if you're obviously not from around there.
