General Impression
Overall Rating: / 10
If you are looking to experience how people live in another part of the world, this is a good experience for you. Living in the monastery, eating meals with everybody, enjoying the fire at night after dinner, exploring Pokhara, all made this experience great. The teaching was tough. I was with a group of 11 kids ages 7 to 13 teaching them English. The knowledge of English with this group was very low, with one or two kids having a solid baseline. I had no help with a translator, so I was limited in the amount of things I could teach. That said, I did see improvement with most of the kids throughout the week.If you need structure and clear guidelines, I would not recommend this for you. If you like to do things your way, engage with the kids, have patience, I would highly recommend this program! I was surprised by how little guidance I was given once I was there as far as how things would be run, but that as just part of the experience and was a good exercise for me to navigate.
