Program overview

Volunteer programs in Tanzania are located in and around Arusha in the north of the country. Love Volunteers’ along with our local partner and on-going support from volunteers are working together to make a difference in one of Tanzania’s poorest communities.

Projects are available within schools, orphanages, and the wider community. With a strong focus on community development and environmental conservation there are plenty of areas for volunteers to get involved. Placements in this stunning country can often be customized to suit the profile of the volunteer. Past participants have volunteered in primary and secondary schools, with women’s development groups, in orphanages and community centers, as well as assisting with sustainable gardening, tree planting, clean water projects and recycling.

So why volunteer in Tanzania? When you volunteer here, you get to see on a daily basis how urgently your help is needed. Your efforts directly impact on the lives of people affected by political unrest and poverty.

As a volunteer in Tanzania the people you come into contact with will be eager to involve you in their world. You will need to use your initiative and judgment as a volunteer in Tanzania, but you will no doubt be touched by this fascinating country. You may also find your previously-held values have changed as a result of your stay here.
