“The internship in the hospital was very well organised”

General Impression

Overall Rating:    10 / 10

I had a great time and I learnt a lot at the same time. Cambodia grew on me.

Country

I felt safe the whole time, people were kind. One must get used to the buzz of the city and it felt nice to have other volunteers there at the same time. The language barrier was challenging sometimes.

Project & Staff

The orientation day was nice and helpful. I missed mine because of my flight schedule, but Mr. Dee offered me to go next time when new volunteers came. They were always helpful when anybody asked for help.
The internship in the hospital was very well organised. I spent 2 weeks in Internal Medicine dep. and 1 week in Internal Medicine ICU and ut was not enough:) They take education very seriously, so every day somebody took care for me and made sure I had things to do. The med students work much more independently here than we do in europe. The language barrier was a huge limitation.

Tips

It would be very helpful to know some french, doctors usually speak better french than english, they also use french for medical documentation.
I brought white trousers + t-shirts (because that what we wear back home), but here doctors are dressed very formaly, so I had to buy scrubs to fit in, but it was not a big deal.
