Overall Rating:/ 10These past 2 weeks I have been volunteering in orphanages in Ukraine! I was adopted from here long ago so being able to be back in my home country was great! Everyone here is so helpful and nice and I fit right in. The language was a bit of a struggle at first, but once I got with the orphans there wasn't a problem! Some knew a little English and most wanted to learn more. They point to everything and ask what it is in English, and then they tell me what it is in Ukrainian so I could learn too! The children were so sweet and so fun to play with. Every day when I would get there they would all run up and hug me! Everyone was so welcoming. We played volleyball, went to the park, colored, and did many various competitions. They also had talent shows so it was fun to watch them up on stage. I also visited the baby orphanage and the orphanage for autistic children. The coordinator Alexander was super helpful in helping me get around the city and to different orphanages, markets, etc. My host family was super sweet and made me feel like I was a part of their family. I visited the zoo and they showed me around town. I had a great 2 weeks and met so many wonderful people. I will never forget this experience! I hope to come back and volunteer again in the future!
