Environmental Conservation

Seattle, USA

About the Program

Volunteers are urgently needed in Seattle for a range of environmental sustainability projects. Every volunteer has a part to play in the bigger picture of getting our planet back on track.  Participants on this program, based in the innovative city of Seattle, will work to regenerate our environment and experience volunteering in one of America’s most intriguing cities. Working alongside like-minded individuals with a passion for sustainability and the desire to help where it’s needed most, volunteers will meet new people, experience new things and explore a new city while doing good for our planet.

It’s no secret that our past practices have damaged our environment. From rising sea levels, to sinking wetlands, displaced and endangered animals to natural disasters, our future is dependent upon responding to and adapting to climate change. This diverse program promises to keep volunteers busy across a range of projects and needs while working towards a common goal to regenerate the environment. From planting projects and waterway clean ups to urban park renewals to encourage wildlife back into our cities and people back enjoying green spaces, each project is essential to our eco-system going forward.

Goals of this Project:

  • Provide support to established sustainability projects
  • Protect wildlife from displacement and extinction
  • Encourage greater awareness of environmental needs throughout our cities
  • Enable positive exchange between volunteers and communities that cross cultural, religious and socio-economic barriers

How You Can Help

Volunteers will contribute in a number of ways on various environmental projects all with the essential goal of repairing the damage made and regenerating our environment. They provide a much-needed labor force to work directly on both established projects and helping to develop new ones. We need volunteers who aren’t afraid to get stuck in and help where it’s needed most. Environmental sustainability projects not only have an immense impact on the community, but also provide great educational and learning opportunities for the volunteers themselves. Volunteers will bring their own experience and strengths that will greatly aid these projects.  Volunteers could help on a number of different projects, including park clean ups, maintenance work, helping to establish new habitats for animals and waterway clean ups, to name just a few.

Volunteers will contribute in a number of ways and can expect to undertake the following tasks:

  • Working in wetlands and bayous to clear out unwanted species
  • Work on conservation and disaster management projects
  • Work replanting ecosystems and cleaning waterways
  • Planting trees and rain gardens in flood-prone areas

Love Volunteers welcomes all those 18 years and over who wish to give their time and energy to assist with environmental sustainability in Seattle. This hands-on project is best suited to those who are either pursuing a career in conservation/environmental studies, or who simply wish to explore an interest in this field. However, the project is open to all and does not require participants to have specific education, qualifications or experience, as you will be shown everything you need to know by your local project leader. Importantly though, all applicants must first and foremost have a genuine willingness to help, show drive and initiative, and bring a positive 'can-do' attitude. If this sounds like you, we want you on the team!

Additionally, volunteers applying to join this program will be required to supply to following documentation:

Project Location

USA, Seattle

Seattle is synonymous with innovation. Never at rest and always seeking the very best, the city provides visitors with a kaleidoscope of experiences.  Many entrepreneurs with a view to following in the footsteps of existing Seattle start-ups like Starbucks, Amazon and Nordstrom, ply their wares first in this proudly local community.

Seattle's liberal outlook allows expression - in art, architecture, culture, cuisine, shopping and entertainment.  Exploring its diverse suburbs is worth the effort to see inside this unconventional city and better understand its many facets.

Volunteers based here are in for a treat!
