The Summer Volunteer Program
This fantastic program works with vulnerable children in dire need in northern India, educating and supporting them, and teaching them essential English language skills that will aid in securing work in the future. From teaching English to and assisting street kids living in Delhi’s slums to caring for children in need in far northern India, this volunteering program truly makes a difference to children’s lives. With a combination of community-based voluntary service work, and lots of traveling and sightseeing, this program is a perfect choice for people of all ages and backgrounds searching for a cultural experience with the satisfaction of volunteering in magical India! From cities like the bustling capital of New Delhi, to the Pink City of Jaipur, to Agra, the hill station city of Dharamshala and the Golden temple city of Amritsar – this fantastic trip encompasses all the most popular experiences offered to visitors in wonderful Northern India.
Goals of this Project:
- Provide support to vulnerable children and animals in India
- Improve the future prospects of the children and animals of India
- Expose non-English speakers to native English speakers in order to improve pronunciation and conversational skills
- Enable inter-cultural exchange which benefits both students and international volunteers alike.
How You Can Help
Volunteers will gain a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to help vulnerable children while gaining a fantastic traveling experience. The children this program assists will greatly benefit from the attention and education given by the volunteers. In between adventure-filled weekends, participants also get to volunteer on wonderful community-based projects. Working 4-5 hours per day, Monday to Friday each week, volunteers will work with the Street Children project in Delhi, the Day Care project while in the picturesque Himalayan town of Palampur, and the Elephant Camp while visiting Jaipur! Volunteering to work with children in India will be a hugely rewarding experience for any international volunteer. The program’s itinerary includes; pickup from Delhi airport/railway/bus station, program orientation, extensive information prior to arrival, accommodation and meals, placement and assistance in work area, assistance for local sightseeing, all program relevant materials, visit to Agra including Taj Mahal, visit to Golden Temple (Amritsar), visit to Palampur, two days Himalayan Trekking adventure, all hotel stays during the expedition, all transportation for trips. A full itinerary is available on request. Entrance fees are additional and cost approximately $50-$60.
Love Volunteers welcomes all those 18 years and over who wish to help create a brighter future for people living in marginalized communities of India. This project is best suited to those volunteers who simply wish to be involved in a more ‘varied’ project as they will not only get to experience the wonderful sights and sounds of this fascinating country, but will also have the opportunity to assist the local people and communities along the way. The project is also open to all and does not require participants to have specific education, qualifications or experience, as you will be shown everything you need to know by one of local project leaders. Importantly, all applicants must first and foremost have a genuine willingness to help, show drive and initiative, and bring a positive 'can-do' attitude. Start Dates & Duration
This project is available on set dates over summer with SATURDAY arrival.
Volunteers who complete this three-week program can opt to extend their stay and continue with additional volunteering work on any of our programs in Delhi.

Arrival & Orientation
Volunteers are met on arrival into Delhi airport and taken to the volunteer house where they can meet with their hosts and fellow volunteers. The following day (Sunday) an orientation session is held to introduce volunteers to the programs and their new environment. The session will cover safety, transportation, basic culture and history and is a chance to get to know other volunteers and the local team and ask any questions you may have.
Volunteers can opt to include a week long orientation prior to their volunteering placement. Details are in the 'Additional Information' section.

Accommodation & Meals
Volunteers on this incredible program are accommodated in comfortable lodgings throughout their program.
Whilst in Delhi volunteers stay in a fully equipped and comfortable Volunteer House in the pleasant residential are of Greater Kailash (colloquially known as ‘GK’) in South Delhi during the week, whilst on placement.
Rooms are shared by up to 4 volunteers in dormitory style (bunk) or single beds. Bathrooms have western-style facilities and hot showers and air-conditioning is provided for comfort in the summer months (April - October). Bed linen is provided so volunteers need only bring personal toiletries and towels. Wifi is available in the house so keeping in touch with friends and families is both free and easy. Satellite television, a fully equipped kitchen and laundry facilities mean that volunteers have everything they need for an enjoyable stay.
The volunteer house is conveniently located close to metro and bus stations as well as great local markets and shops so exploring the locality and city is easy and recommended!
Volunteers are accommodated in a Volunteer House (or Guesthouse) in Palampur and in hotels in Jaipur, Agra and Amritsar. The night spent in Triund in the Himalayas is in tents or a shared Guesthouse.
Volunteers are provided with meals according to the program itinerary, typically this will be breakfast and dinner daily.

The registration fee is USD 299 for those volunteering with Love Volunteers for the first time or USD 149 for any subsequent volunteer placements. The registration fee includes: lifetime LV Alumni Membership, fundraising support & advice, dedicated pre-departure support, certificate of completion (on request), and exclusive access to the LV Trip Planner.
Some things are not included in the program fees listed above, such as flights, visas, vaccinations, travel insurance, additional foods and snacks, spending money, local transport, in-country trips and excursions, return airport transfer (unless mentioned above).

Orientation Week (Optional Extra – US$250):
This one week program allows new arrivals to gain knowledge about the culture, traditions, customs and language of India. Participants are given Hindi language and history lessons, introduced to the famous Indian cuisine and also get to experience a Bollywood movie!
Below is an sample itinerary.
Day 1 - Welcome to India, introduction to the program in Delhi, safety briefing, basic culture and history about India. In the afternoon, volunteers can explore the local market with their new friends. Welcome dinner at a local Indian restaurant is a perfect chance to interact with each other and the local team.
Day 2 - Start to explore Delhi by visiting Birla Mandir and get a street view of India Gate, President Estate and Parliament house. Lunch at a local restaurant and go on to see Akshardham Temple – the world’s largest Hindu temple.
Day 3 – In-House Session: Volunteers have an interactive session with the local coordinator on cultural topics such as the arranged marriage and joint family systems. In the afternoon volunteers are given a Hindi Language session in which they can learn the basic Hindi words.
Day 4 – Second Hindi language class for 3 hours, covering more words and vocabulary to help you in daily use. In the evening watch a Bollywood movie – in Hindi!
Day 5 - Discover Delhi - Go on a guided tour to Delhi's most visited tourist spots. This would be a full day tour of New Delhi including a lunch at a local restaurant.
Day 6 – (Optional – US$100) - Visit India’s most famous landmark – the Taj Mahal!
